The Upper Darby Kindergarten Center Koala Bears
Upper Darby Kindergarten Center is a branch of the Upper Darby school district. This separate school is a building for kindergarten students alone. This works well because it helps the children transition from being at home to being in the classroom. This system seems to work very well, but we have also noticed some minor issues within our classrooms.

The main issue that we came across was parental involvement. We have noticed that parents are not taking responsibility for their child's education because they do not empty their child's folder, sign or return documents, and are absent for parent-teacher conferences. Though this is not true for every student, it is still a big problem at the school.

The "K-Center's" curriculum creates a nurturing environment that fosters literacy through a wide range of listening, speaking, reading, and writing experiences. Various teams of specialists offer reading and support services to all students, including our special education students and English Language Learners. Lastly a strong math program introduces students to critical thinking and problem solving skills.
The Kindergarten Center strives to promote strong character development, respect for differences, and the importance of teamwork.
Partnerships with parents and community organizations help keep the "K-Center" running smoothly. A strong Parent-Teacher Association is vital when it comes to organizing events for families throughout the year
